The Richard Westenburg Memorial Fund

Richard Westenburg, Musica Sacra founderRichard Westenburg’s accomplishments in music were diverse and numerous. He was always ready to embrace new developments.

Whether one rehearsed and performed with him, experienced one of his choral performances as a member of the audience, walked as a friend with him sharing fascinating stories of his remarkable life, or knew him as a fellow choral conductor or organist, one was certain without a doubt that this man was a giant in our midst.

His was a life measured by his curiosity, his humor, and his love for others; it was a life lived passionately and fully, expressed through music and the sheer force of his being and his presence.

To honor Richard and the gift of great music that he unfailingly gave to each of us throughout his lifetime, and to insure the strongest possible future for Musica Sacra and Richard’s legacy, the Board of Directors of Musica Sacra has created The Richard Westenburg Memorial Fund.

This fund will be used specifically for new projects for Musica Sacra: the commissioning of new works, collaboration with other choral groups, work with young music students, new recordings, and other projects that Richard would have proposed as creative, innovative, and supportive of his vision and the mission of Musica Sacra. It will not be intermingled with our annual operating budget.

We hope that you will contribute to The Richard Westenburg Memorial Fund to honor Richard and support the mission of Musica Sacra as it moves into its next phase as the country’s longest running, fully professional chorus and orchestra.

Please consider a gift of any size. Your gift is a commitment to the future of an extraordinary choral group, created, shaped, and nurtured by a giant who has entrusted his legacy to the audiences and admirers of his work.
